Bet of the Day - Aberdeen set to triumph

Day 183: We're backing Aberdeen to beat St Mirren at [2.6]

The critics will tell you that there aren't any reasons to care about Scottish football beyond Rangers and Celtic, but the SPL could be about to play host to one of the most remarkable relegation escapes of all time.

Hamilton have been bottom of the table all season and with six matches to go were 12 points from safety, something that was hardly surprising after just two victories in their first 32 games. They have followed that with three wins in four though - as you do - to sit three points from safety with two to play.

Their first home triumph of the entire campaign was finally achieved against Hibernian on Saturday and their penultimate fixture takes them to a St Johnstone side with little to play for tonight, so they could edge ever closer to survival, as success will potentially pull them level on points with St Mirren.

That's the team we're looking at for our latest Bet of the Day, because their dreadful recent results are as significant a factor as Hamilton's revival in the emergence of a genuine battle at the bottom, and after taking only one of the last 15 points available to them, they should lose to Aberdeen at [2.6].

The Dons haven't been in great form themselves but secured their own spot in next season's SPL by beating Inverness in their last outing as hosts and should seal a top-ten finish against the Buddies, who have lost on each of their last five visits to Pittodrie, and on 12 of their last 13 trips there.

Our bet: We're backing Aberdeen to defeat St Mirren at [2.6], meaning that - before factoring in commission - we stand to win £16. The same punt pays only £11 with Boylesports. Sign up for a new account now and have your first bet of up to £25 refunded if it loses.
