Wolves' Jarvis finally gets an England call
The calls of Wolves supporters for their winger Matt Jarvis to receive international recognition have finally been answered by England boss Fabio Capello, who has named the 24-year-old in his squad for the Euro 2012 qualifier against Wales.
Capello's latest selection was pretty unremarkable beyond that decision, with the usual suspects called up and the biggest topic of contention being the decision to give the captain's armband back to John Terry on a permanent basis after what the manager called "one year of punishment".
It has provided the anti-Capello press with another stick to beat the unpopular Italian with, especially as it has been suggested that the nine-time title-winning coach didn't inform his current skipper Rio Ferdinand of the change before it was publicly announced on Saturday night.
The News of the World reported on Sunday that the Manchester United defender, who is currently sidelined and may not feature again for the Premier League leaders this season, was "appalled" by his treatment while there have been claims that he will consider international retirement.
The former West Ham and Leeds United centre back has stayed silent and refused to add to the drama, with an indication of his reluctance to cause controversy shown by his absence from Twitter since the confirmation, having previous posted on the site at least once a day in March.
England are clear [1.46] favourites to win at the Millennium Stadium on Saturday, with Wales available to back at a massive [8.2].
