Bet up to £25 risk-free on Stoke vs Wigan

As referenced in our Manchester United vs Blackpool preview, odds tend to get turned upside down towards the end of the season when the weaker of two teams is the one with more to play for, and the same is true of Stoke's final game against Wigan, in which the visitors are rated [2.62] favourites.

Thanks to our special offer for those opening new Betfair accounts, you can bet up to £25 on this match and have your stake refunded if your punt proves unsuccessful.

The problem with that price is that Wigan haven't beaten Stoke in any of their five Premier League collisions or indeed their last six clashes in any competition, while they have only won three times on the road this term, and have never triumphed in successive league fixtures under Roberto Martinez.

It is also inaccurate to suggest that the Potters ([2.84]) have nothing to play for, as only a win will guarantee that they fulfil their target of a top-half finish, plus manager Tony Pulis has known Ian Holloway since childhood and is determined to do everything in his power to help Blackpool stay up.

The Latics have a better record than most at the Britannia Stadium though - the hosts have won just one of the last eight encounters between these clubs - so while the draw is a far from ideal result for either side, it has to be rated the best bet having been the outcome of their last three meetings.

None of those games finished goalless, and this is even less likely to with both desperate to boost their point tallies, so consider backing both teams to score at [1.72] and stick a few quid on 2-2 being the final score for the third time in four showdowns at [16.0].
