Andy's Tuesday tips - West Ham will do it
The first two of this year's Carling Cup quarter-finals take place in London on Tuesday night. Here's how Andy Gray sees both games going...
Arsenal v Wigan
When I go to the Emirates Stadium and look at the trophy room and the list of honours on the wall, it's always striking that Arsenal's history of achievements ends with their 2005 FA Cup win. Five years on, I think Arsene Wenger needs to win a trophy.
For that reason, I'd be happy to see Arsenal win the League Cup this year. Whoever plays, I will be backing the Gunners to win this match and progress to the last four.
Recommended Bets:
Back Arsenal to win at [1.28]
Back Arsenal to win 3-1 at [12.0]
West Ham v Manchester United
This is a classic case of a tie which will be determined by which players turn out for Manchester United. Sir Alex Ferguson has taken this tournament increasingly seriously over the last few years - demonstrated by the fact that his side have won this competition for the last two seasons.
So who would bet on them going out against struggling West Ham? I might, especially if Sir Alex fields an inexperienced side.
West Ham's priority this season may be Premier League survival but Avram Grant demonstrated with Chelsea that he knows the value of a good cup run and may be tempted to try to bring a bit of silverware to Upton Park. I'm backing the Hammers.
Recommended Bets:
Back West Ham to win at [5.4]
Back West Ham to win 3-1 at [55.0]
