Allardyce said to be offered West Ham gig
West Ham co-chairman David Sullivan confirmed in a Thursday night meeting with the club's new Supporter Advisory Board that the opportunity to succeed Avram Grant had been offered to two managers over the course of the week, with one rejecting and another expected to reply today.
The businessman appeared to indicate that the coaches being pursued were both British and had experience in England's top two divisions, and judging by the current state of the Betfair market, it is plausible that Martin O'Neill ([6.8]) was the initial snubber with Sam Allardyce ([3.85]) the ponderer.
A generous bid is believed to have been put on the table featuring a considerable bonus for gaining promotion at the first attempt - something the owners have vowed to supporters will be achieved - however despite that Sullivan claims to lack confidence in his latest target accepting the job.
Based on recent developments, it looks as though Sullivan and co are acting ambitiously to begin with by trying to convince Premier League standard bosses to take on the challenge and will then turn to less illustrious and high-profile candidates if the response from them is negative.
The change in the next manager market reflects this theory, with the prices of former favourites Chris Hughton ([12.5]) and Dave Jones ([18.5]) drifting quite significantly, though of the tacticians that have spent more time in the Championship, Billy Davies has attracted interest at [8.4].

big sam would be a good for the club
He brought Bolton from nothing to the premiership and would be my ideal replacement.
He knows quality players rather than players who dont give a dam about West Ham.
We also need Tony Fernades to invest some money into the club so we can get back to where we should be in the premiership.
