Tottenham striker attracts La Liga interest
The majority of the blame for Tottenham's likely failure to qualify for the Champions League this season has been handed to their misfiring strikers but by far the most reliable of those has been Roman Pavlyuchenko, with eight goals to show for his 17 Premier League starts.
The Russian forward however doesn't have a great relationship with boss Harry Redknapp, who has appeared to favour his signings Peter Crouch and Jermain Defoe for much of his tenure and has at times publicly criticised him, the consequence being that the 29-year-old has often aired a desire to leave.
A run of five straight starts suggest that Pavlyuchenko's chances of regular first-team football at White Hart Lane are on the rise, though if he still wishes to exit despite his increased opportunities then he will be heartened to read rumours that Sevilla are interested in bringing him to Spain.
The Rojiblancos, who are staging a last-gasp but almost certainly too late bid for Champions League qualification, lost Luis Fabiano in January and are expected to let Frederic Kanoute go this summer, and are said to be considering buying for Spurs again, as they did with Kanoute and Didier Zokora.
Former Lilywhites attacker Kanoute meanwhile has denied claims that his imminent departure from Sevilla could signal a return to the Premier League, despite admitting that he had been subject to several enquiries.
He said: "Sevilla and I have agreed that I will end my beautiful time here. USA and Qatar offer an adventure I am interested in. I have had offers from England but I have already ruled them out."
Both Tottenham and Sevilla's best chances of a European adventure next season look set to be provided by the unpopular Europa League, though to earn a place in that, Spurs will have to finish above Liverpool, which is a prospect rated uncertain at [1.72] on Betfair.
