Tottenham close in on a striker from Spain
We warned you earlier today not to be tricked by Harry Redknapp's protestations that he knew nothing about reports that Tottenham were trying to sign a forward from a La Liga side - though you were probably shrewd enough to realise that anyway - and it appears that it was sound advice.
The Spurs boss also claimed that he didn't expect anyone new to arrive at White Hart Lane before the 11pm deadline but Madrid-based sports newspaper Marca allege to have heard from Atletico Madrid that the Lilywhites have submitted a bid for Uruguayan striker Diego Forlan.
No figure has been quoted or indication of Atletico's stance, however it's intriguing that Forlan wasn't one of the four front men linked with the club by Sky Sports News when they broke the story that Spurs were looking to shop in Spain.
If the rumours in Madrid are true then it means that Tottenham have once again managed to give everyone the swerve with regards to their primary transfer target.
Given that it's clear that they're focussing on attackers with experience in Spain, you wouldn't even bet against Fernando Torres' helicopter stopping off at Spurs Lodge instead of Cobham!
Can Spurs still finish in the top four this season? It's a [3.35] prospect...

I think you might find upon research that Forlan is indeed not from Spain he plays football there. Another hook I guess from these increasingly annoying blogs

Cheers for the comment. Yes, we are aware that Forlan is Uruguayan, that's why we described him as a "Uruguayan striker". He currently plays in Spain just as the four players linked with Spurs last night do - that's the angle we were going for...

I have just read and interesting ITK, apparently Aguero and Llorente were linked with us as a smokescreen due to them being touted for moves for Real Madrid this summer.
Apparently we showed interest in them to get Real Madrid to part with Karim Benzema, apparently he is the one we are really after and will be the one signed....watch this space!
