Sam Allardyce memorably declared to widespread scoffing earlier this season that he would excel if given the chance to manage a team like Real Madrid, however the Premier League's only Spanish boss Roberto Martinez has argued that Harry Redknapp would impress if employed in his homeland.

The Wigan manager has enjoyed both one of his greatest victories and his most humiliating defeat in charge of the Latics against Redknapp's Tottenham side but has gained so much admiration for the man expected to succeed Fabio Capello as England coach that he could be successful anywhere.

He is quoted in the Daily Mirror as saying: "Harry could be a success in Spain, without a doubt. He has had success in the English game in different leagues and different teams by managing different cultures, so I think Harry would be a success in any league in the world."

The former West Ham and Portsmouth chief is [9.6] to boost his stock in Spain even further with an incredible triumph over Real Madrid at the Bernabeu on Tuesday, yet before that he collides with Martinez at the DW Stadium in a match that his club are marginal [2.48] favourites.

But as highly as the former Swansea boss rates his opposite number, he will look at Saturday's clash as a valuable opportunity for his strugglers to improve their survival prospects, having already won at White Hart Lane.

They are [3.3] to complete a double, an intriguing price considering Spurs have taken three points in just one of their eight encounters against bottom-six sides, while Wigan have lost only three in eight as hosts against top-half opposition.

Will the Latics scupper Tottenham's top-four bid? Have your say below...
