In-play guide to Tottenham vs Birmingham
Birmingham are the only of the strugglers on Sky Sports on Sunday to start outside the drop zone but are judged the least likely to win. We've found three ways to make money in-play from their trip to Tottenham...
Birmingham can't afford to concede first
Alex McLeish's side potentially need to win at White Hart Lane to maintain their Premier League status, and even that might not be enough depending on results elsewhere, and it really will be curtains for the Carling Cup winners' hopes of Premier League survival if Tottenham score the opening goal. The Blues have fought back to triumph having conceded the deadlock breaker just once this season, not a great record having gone behind 18 times.
Tottenham are comeback kings
Even if Birmingham do take an early lead in north London, don't let that detract you from betting on Spurs if you have faith in them being victorious as they have averaged more points in encounters in which they have gone 1-0 down than any other club in the division and have also salvaged 24 points from games in which they have trailed, the best tally of any team in the league besides West Brom.
Expect late clean-sheet spoilers
Both teams have scored in each of the last five clashes between the Lilywhites and Birmingham and on numerous occasions in that period at least one of the two have been denied a clean sheet very late on in the day. There has been a 90th minute goal in four of those fixtures and the Blues one and only goal in each of the last three has arrived in the final 16 minutes, while all six of Spurs' strikes in their last three home matches against them have come after the interval, indicating that opposing a clean sheet for whichever side is on course to keep one in the closing stages could prove profitable.
