Champions League chance for Spurs hero
Inter are hoping to take advantage if Tottenham fail to qualify for the Champions League this season by lodging a cheeky bid to try to lure Luka Modric away from White Hart Lane.
The reigning European champions, who aren't actually certain of a spot in next season's competition either after a poor domestic campaign, have been linked with Gareth Bale since he destroyed them in their group stage meetings, but Modric is top of their wish list now, according to the Daily Mirror.
Tottenham have previously hinted that if they miss out on a top-four place in the Premier League this year, they may have to consider selling a few players, though their Croatian star is on a long-term contract and has in the past rejected suggestions of having any interest in leaving.
Harry Redknapp's side are still in with a reasonable chance of returning to Europe's top table next term as they trail current fourth position occupants Manchester City by just two points with six games to go after last night's 3-3 draw with Arsenal.
Difficult matches away to Chelsea, Manchester City and Liverpool lie ahead for the Lilywhites, however they prospered through a similar tough schedule 12 months ago, and if you think they will deliver again, they can be backed at [4.3] to make it to the Champions League qualifiers.
