Betfair users profit as Tottenham bow out
Jose Mourinho was surprisingly generous in his praise of Tottenham at the end of last night's Champions League quarter-final second leg at White Hart Lane, claiming that he wouldn't have begrudged the Lilywhites a point from the final match of their first ever season in the competition.
However, Cristiano Ronaldo and Spurs goalkeeper Heurelho Gomes had other ideas, with a mistake by the Brazilian custodian gifting Real Madrid a victory that they perhaps didn't deserve, though none of the Betfair punters that backed the nine-time winners to triumph 1-0 were complaining.
A £10 wager on the Spanish giants winning by the slenderest of margins in north London provided a profit of £114 - even accounting for the maximum five per cent commission - whereas Ladbrokes and BetClic paid out just £70.
The best odds were also offered on Betfair on the encounter being level at the break but the visitors going on to win, with a £10 stake returning £58.90 compared to only £45 with the aforementioned duo and Stan James.
There was also more money to be made betting against other people on Betfair as Schalke secured their spot in the semi-finals by once again beating holders Inter. A £10 flutter on their 2-1 success delivered £104.50, while Ladbrokes, BetClic and Victor Chandler users were forced to settle for £80.
Don't take our word for it though, why not test Betfair yourself using Betchecker?
