Back Tottenham - get a refund if they flop
Arsenal can perhaps consider that they escaped unpunished for their failure to beat Liverpool at the Emirates on Sunday after Manchester United were held at Newcastle last night, but their slim hopes of topping the Premier League could be done great harm by neighbours Tottenham this evening.
It was a game in hand at White Hart Lane in mid-April last season that effectively killed the Gunners' title bid last season, as a 2-1 defeat to their fiercest rivals left them six points off the pace with four fixtures remaining and triggered a complete collapse that featured losses to Wigan and Blackburn.
That result also left Spurs breathing down Manchester City's neck and handed them the momentum and belief required to help them overtake the Citizens despite a horrific looking run-in. You can't escape the feeling therefore that history is poised to repeat itself, with the hosts priced at [2.98].
Thanks to our special offer for those opening new Betfair accounts, you can bet up to £25 on this match and have your stake refunded if your punt proves unsuccessful. So if Spurs triumph, you'll win £49.50, yet won't lose a penny if they fail.
The days when the Lilywhites would routinely roll over for Arsene Wenger's side are long gone, as the visitors haven't won in 90 minutes on any of their last four trips to the Lane, while Tottenham have been victorious in the last two league encounters, winning 3-2 at the Emirates in November.
Both teams have scored in each of the last three north London derbies, and 11 of the last 13, so that is another wager worth pursuing at [1.63], while over 2.5 goals is [1.84]. If you prefer longer odds is [16.5] to score against his former club, and netted in his second start for Arsenal against Chelsea.
Tottenham v Arsenal

Considering spuds hadnt beaten the Arsenal in the previous 20 leagues matches ie a WHOLE decade (!) the law of averages dictate that they would win the odd one. Also Arsenal stuffed spuds 4-1 in the League cup earlier on in the season.

Didn't Spurs put out a weak team for you. Even then they took you to extra time. Obviously that great result makes up for the last 5 years. Sensible Opinion my A***

Nowt to do with averages, mate. Spurs have a far better squad these days than over the past decade - as proven by their outlasting of the Arse in the Champions' League.
Have to admit I'd all but forgotten that League Cup encounter. That'll be the tournament that the Arse pretended not to be interested in when losing 1-5 at The Lane a couple of years back? Of course, that attitude was conveniently forgotten this season. Not that it did them much good in the end, eh?
