Another day, another striker to Tottenham
Rarely does a day pass during a transfer window without Tottenham being linked with a new signing and having supposedly shown an interest in Roma forward Mirko Vucinic on Wednesday, Thursday's newspapers are reporting that a bid for Villarreal striker Giuseppe Rossi is imminent.
The Independent believe that Darren Bent's switch to Aston Villa could spark a flurry of transfer activity - it is of course suggested that any major move will liven up the market -and that the money Spurs have received because their former attacker has changed clubs again is burning a hole in Harry Redknapp's pocket.
The newspaper claim that Tottenham snubbed the opportunity to bring in Liverpool target Luis Suarez and are instead keen on ex-Manchester United man Rossi, who has scored 17 goals in 27 starts this season for Villarreal to raise eyebrows at several top Spanish and Italian sides.
Despite being out of contract at the end of the 2011-12 campaign, it is thought that the Italy international would cost the Lilywhites between £15 and £20 million because of the number of suitors and the fact that at 23, he has sell-on value. The latter factor apparently appeals to the Spurs board.
Tottenham have rightly gained a reputation as one of the most entertaining teams in England and are seen as prolific because of the goals scored by Gareth Bale and Rafael van der Vaart, however their strikers have fired a combined six in the league, while seven Premier League clubs average more than them.
Peter Crouch has netted just once despite appearing in every game but that allegedly hasn't put off Sunderland as they search for a replacement for Bent. Black Cats chairman Niall Quinn has denied speculation that they are in for the very much available Robbie Keane though.
Would Rossi help them back into the top four? They are [3.15] to make it again...

We have been linked to carroll, hulk, falcao, suarez, vucinic, rossi, fabiano, benzema, dzeko, and cavani this summer. Thats 10 strikers god knows we need one but how many seriously could Levy have made enquiries over?
I seriously suspect Carroll, Suarez and Benzema (because of our madrid dodgy deals) the rest I doubt.
Although Id love the HULK
