The forum on why Stoke will defeat Wigan

Wigan have been the best performers of any of the relegation battlers over the last eight games, prompting many to believe that they will get the result they need at Stoke to secure survival. The posters on the Betfair football forum don't see things unfolding that way though...

"I can't see why people think Wigan are a good thing at Stoke. It's been a great season for Stoke, this is their last home game in front of fanatical supporters, and they played hard before the FA Cup Final, whereas one would have thought that was when they would have taken their foot off the gas. I think Stoke's price of [2.9] is huge." - Pounf

"Tony Pulis and Ian Holloway are big mates from their Bristol Rovers days and Holloway is the godfather of Tony Pulis Jr. Pulis has said he will do all he can to help Blackpool stay in the Premier League and will naturally field his strongest team. Stoke want to finish as high as possible due to the extra place money and will not be taking their foot off the pedal." - DeKaiser

"Only Blackpool and Wigan are playing teams with nothing to play for. I don't care if Pulis' dad's cat fancies Holloway's daughter's hamster, Pulis won't be on the pitch." - AgentR

"I cannot believe the Wigan fans who seem to think Stoke are treating this as a dead rubber. Tony Pulis again this morning said they plan a party day atmosphere against Wigan to thank the fans for their fanatical support all season and that he will field his strongest side to try and help Ollie as Blackpool deserve to have another season in the Premier League. Also, Stoke players are on a huge end of season bonus from Peter Coates to finish in the top ten after finishing 12th and 11th in their previous seasons." - DeKaiser

"Wigan beat West Ham and suddenly become world beaters. They will get mullered at Stoke no problem, and so will Blackpool at Manchester United." - TiredandWeary

Wigan, the town, considering that it field's 2 sporting teams that are at the top of the English sporting arena, the football team deserve a tad more respect than Mr Mike can suggest. Would it be normal for a person from the town of Stoke to make such disdain comments? I would like Wigan to stay in the premiership as they are on par with 4 other teams at the present, and are all fighting for survival, maybe stoke will be in a similar situation in the future, football, funny game, fans, even funnier!

Wigan won after all, both the Football and the RL. Plenty character shown in both games. Not bad for for a small town shadowed by all the larger cities and towns up and down the country, Stoke played very well, especially after 3 games in 9 or so days, respect to the Team.
