The forum reaction to events at Newcastle
It's unusual to have to wait until December for the first managerial departure of the Premier League season but the wait hasn't made the decision any less staggering, with Newcastle's call to sack Chris Hughton proving anything but popular. Here's what the Betfair football forum have made of it all...
"Whatever happens to Hughton, (and he has been treat despicably by Newcastle so far) he has handled himself very well and is certain to be sought after in the future. One thing for sure is that he will earn lots more money in his next job than he ever earned at St James' Park." - Philbet.
"Absolutely disgraceful Ashley. Hughton gets them promoted back to the Premier League, beats Sunderland and wins at Arsenal and gets sacked. Relegation looms." - epochery
"He brought back Newcastle from the gutter to the dizzy heights of the Premier League. What a kick in the teeth, a nonsensical ,ungrateful stab in the back." - strikeitrich2
"Despite not watching as much football as in my younger days, I cannot think why would anybody with even the smallest amount of self-respect would want to take over from Hughton, who appears to have done a more than decent job." - Equimine.co.uk
"Let's hope they get what they deserve for this abuse of what appears to be a good guy. I know it's a big boys' game and every boss knows the score, but from afar it appears they have treated Hughton with utter contempt, despite the fact he rescued a club that appeared to be in a very bad downward spiral. I hope he goes onto better things." - Baker Boy
"Mike Ashley should look at where the Boro have ended up and consider fact Hughton took over Newcastle at the start of last season when they were joint-faves to win the Championship." - STEPTOES YARD
"You won't be complaining if he gets Hiddink as the replacement." - Guybrush Threepwood
"Joe Kinnear spotted at Newcastle bus station - the saviour!" - T.M.O

It's difficult not to feel sorry for Newcastle fans in this situation, dave. For ages, you have been (often unfairly) criticised for being too expectant but from our experience, the majority of supporters gave Hughton a chance when sceptical at the start and have really got behind him, and yet Ashley has still taken no notice.
Any thoughts on who you want to replace him, or is it too early to be thinking about that?

WHile the events at SJP this afternoon beggar belief PLEASE remember that this is the action of one arrogant, self grandoising, idiot of an owner - It's not 'Newcastle United' who have sacked their manager - it's Mike Ashley, a know-nothing-about-football market trader who once again has dragged not only NUFC but the while premiership into the mire with his ridiculous antics
AS a lifelong Toon fan it really hurts to say but Chris Hughton you deserve so much better than the current Newcastle United

Once again we shoot ourselves in the foot mid season! All we wanted was for Hughton to consolidate this season which he was on course to do. Well done Mr Ashley, why don't you just go back down south and leave us alone.
