Watford after Manchester United youngster
Despite a better than expected start to the new Championship season, Watford have still conceded four goals in two league games. However, they're looking to bring in a promising young defender to bolster their ranks, while Gary Speed is hoping to make his first signing as a manager, and Steve Coppell's replacement has his eye on a new striker for Bristol City...
- Watford boss Malky Mackay is reported to be trying to sign Manchester United defender Ritchie de Laet on loan. The 21-year-old has made a handful of first-team appearances at Old Trafford after moving from Stoke City in 2009. He has appeared at left-back for United - a position where Watford have a lack of options - and was voted the club's Reserve Player of the Year in May.
- Gary Speed is said to be targeting Norwich City striker Grant Holt as his first signing since taking over as Sheffield United manager.
- New Bristol City manager Keith Millen is apparently keen on signing Ipswich Town striker Jon Stead.
- Preston North End are having a look at Bamber Bridge defender Luke Jones.
- Former Everton striker Danny Cadamarteri could be on his way from Dundee United to Plymouth Argyle on a free transfer.
Would Grant Holt be allowed to leave Carrow Road? Let us know what you think below...
