United v City for Sneijder signature

Manchesters United and City are set to do battle this summer as both clubs bid to sign Inter's Wesley Sneijder.

But the Dutch midfielder won't come cheaply and it's rumoured he will cost around a staggering £85 million. United sold Cristiano Ronaldo for a record-breaking £80 million two years ago so it seems unlikely that Sir Alex Ferguson will be prepared to meet Inter's astronomical valuation.

Meanwhile, United have also made a late bid to steal Udinese winger Alexis Sanchez from the City. The Chilean winer is supposed to be on his way to Eastlands for over £20 million but, with a Premier League title and a place in the Champions League final looking likely for the Reds, Sanchez mayprefer Old Trafford.

Carlos Tevez looks almost certain to leave City at the end of the season. The Argentinian is reportedly unhappy at Eastlands and Chelsea are said to be readying a £40 million bid that could see Tevez alongside Fernando Torres at Stamford Bridge next season.

Midfielders are all the rage in the Eastlands arrivals lounge as City prepare to try to lure Scott Parker this summer. Tottenham are also rumoured to be interested in signing the West Ham captain, while Joe Cole is also likely to be Spurs target, only 12 months after he snubbed a move to White Hart Lane.
