Solskjaer to leave Man Utd to lead Molde

The odds on Ole Gunnar Solskjaer succeeding Sir Alex Ferguson as Manchester United manager have drifted from [18.0] to [24.0] following reports that he's about to leave his post as the club's reserve team boss to take charge of his former side Molde.

The 37-year-old claimed to have snubbed the opportunity to coach the Norwegian club earlier this year out of loyalty to Ferguson, but following Uwe Rosler's departure, the baby-faced assassin is expected to be confirmed as his replacement in a press conference this afternoon.

Solskjaer scored the winning goal in the 1998-99 Champions League Final and has made a successful start to his coaching career, leading Manchester United's second string to a league and cup double last season, and has made no secret of the fact that he would one day like to manage the Red Devils.

However, he had previously dismissed the possibility of being promoted from within to the job Pep Guardiola-style when Ferguson leaves - despite being fifth in the running on Betfair - so perhaps feels that he needs to gain experience at a first-team level before being considered for the role.

Will Solskjaer return to Old Trafford as boss? Mourinho is the current [3.8] favourite to be the next man in the dugout, with David Moyes next in line at [7.0]...
