Man Utd won't have it easy against West Ham

Manchester United go to West Ham for Tuesday night's Carling Cup quarter-final on the back of a 7-1 win, but Fergie will field a very different line-up from the one that thrashed Blackburn.

And it could just be that punters are getting a little carried away with that big win by pricing Manchester United at [1.76] to win in 90 minutes at Upton Park. The home team are [5.5] to advance in normal time with the draw a tempting [4.0].

Having taken the lead in the Premier League title race, Manchester United may not place such importance on success in the domestic game's 'other' cup competition. Nevertheless, the opposition is not in the best nick either, and plenty will see the visitors' price as a gift.

Away from the win market, other bets appeal. Remember what happened in the last round? The Reds edged a second-half goalfest at home to Wolves and another open, end-to-end game is to be expected. Back over 3.5 goals at [3.5].

There are some tempting odds available in the qualifying method market where an extra time victory for Manchester United trades at [8.6], and a win on penalties at [10.0]. A split stakes bet here could be very rewarding...

Remember, the Reds will be relying on the understudies and fringe players to progress here, and they should be the focus of your goalscorer bets.

With Sir Alex surely likely to field a weakened side, this isn't a match to go mad on, so steer your bets away from the obvious and you could be in for a profitable Tuesday night.
