Man Utd target has a big change of heart

Wesley Sneijder is ready to consider a summer switch to supposed long-term suitors Manchester United, according to the Daily Mirror.

The Dutch playmaker was linked with a move to the Premier League a lot last year after helping guide Inter Milan to the treble and Holland to the World Cup Final but opted to remain in Italy in pursuit of the UEFA Super Cup and FIFA Club World Cup.

Only one of those trophies was forthcoming during Rafael Benitez's short stint in charge but the Nerazzurri suddenly find themselves fighting on three fronts once again under Brazilian tactician Leonardo, though that isn't believed to have stopped Sneijder from pondering leaving Milan.

Manchester United are thought to have tracked the attacking midfielder, who many felt deserved to win the recent Ballon d'Or award, or at the very least make the podium, for a number of years, and as he is surprisingly still only 26, the fact he provides sell-on value justifies a big outlay.

If he does opt to end his Inter stay, England is his most obvious next destination, as there is no bigger club in Serie A these days, he's unlikely to welcome a return to Real Madrid even with former boss Jose Mourinho in the dugout and Barcelona don't really need to strengthen in the final third.

Bayern Munich is another possibility but judging by Franck Ribery and compatriot Arjen Robben's comments about the prospect of playing in the Europa League next season - Bayern are fourth and require a top-three finish - they have enough work on their hands keeping hold of their stars.

If Sneijder's current employers see off Schalke in their Champions League quarter-final clash, a semi-final meeting with Manchester United us on the cards. On account of a slightly easier last-eight draw, Inter are [9.4] to go all the way again, which is slightly shorter than the Red Devils at [10.0].

Would Sneijder be a good addition? How much is he worth? Tell us below...
