Man Utd close to signing new goalkeeper
Manchester United will confirm the signing of Danish goalkeeper Anders "the new Peter Schmeichel" Lindegaard over the next 48 hours, according to The Guardian's website.
The 26-year-old, who is currently playing for Norwegian side Aalesunds, is expected to arrive in January for a fee of £3.5 million, having been watched five times by the club's goalkeeping coach Eric Steele, and is inevitably viewed as a long-term successor to 40-year-old Edwin van der Sar.
Lindegaard could be seen as something of a late bloomer, even by shot-stopper standards, having only made his international debut this year - going on to represent his country on four occasions since the World Cup.
That's another similarity though with the legendary Schmeichel, who didn't leave Scandinavia until Sir Alex Ferguson brought him to Old Trafford in 1991, by which point he was already 27.
Will Lindegaard be a success in the Premier League? Have your say below...
