It was a brilliant weekend for Manchester United and Dimitar Berbatov after the latter's five goals in a 7-1 stroll past Blackburn saw the Red Devils move to the top of the Premier League table and the Bulgarian striker surge clear in the battle to be the division's top goalscorer.

The feat of Berbatov, whose record-equalling display ended a ten-match goal drought following his brilliant hat-trick against Liverpool, in opening a two-goal advantage over closest challenger and former team-mate Carlos Tevez saw him become the [5.3] favourite to end the season as top goalscorer.

However, despite Chelsea's 1-1 draw up at Newcastle ensuring that Manchester United also boast a two-point lead and creating the unwanted statistic that the reigning champions have now won only once in five league games, the Blues remain favourites to retain the title.

Carlo Ancelotti's side are [2.56] to finish first with the current pacesetters [2.98], but backers of last year's runners-up can take confidence from the turnaround that has already occurred, given that Chelsea have traded as low as [1.44] and Manchester United have traded at a huge high of [8.0].

Down at the bottom, it's an exciting time for punters who laid Blackpool for the drop at odds as low as [1.23] as the Seasiders ended a weekend odds-against for the first time since promotion after a 2-2 draw away to in-form Bolton, in an encounter they led 2-0.

Their current relegation odds are [2.04], meaning those who stood by them at the start of the campaign already have an opportunity to trade out for a significant profit.

Could Manchester United win the title and Berbatov be top goalscorer? You can back that double at [8.2] on Betfair, while Chelsea and Malouda is [24.0].
