Andy's Wednesday tips - Man Utd will win

Show of hands if you thought Rangers would get anything from their trip to Old Trafford. No, me neither. It was a bitterly disappointing result for Manchester United and one that has instantly put a bit of pressure on them with a trip to Ibrox still to come, not to mention the small matter of this away game at Valencia which has all of a sudden become of vital importance to Sir Alex Ferguson.

In an ideal world, he'd love to have ten points on the board with two matches to go, meaning he could play weakened sides in those, but that now looks unlikely.

It would be easy to assume that this will be a season of transition for Valencia with David Silva and David Villa, their key players over the past few seasons, gone. But on day one they went away to Bursaspor and thrashed them 4-0 so they've clearly found their feet without their two big stars sooner than one would think.

Manchester United normally like to play 4-5-1 away from home in these sort of games so Wayne Rooney's injury absence may have saved Sir Alex a selection headache, given the way Dimitar Berbatov has been playing.

Experience of watching these games over the years makes me think that the tenser and more important they are, the tighter they tend to be, and this could be such a game. It should be low-scoring but my gut instinct is that Manchester United may just do enough to nick it.
