Andy's Saturday tips - Man Utd to nick win
We had a fascinating round of matches last time out with plenty of goals and even more controversy surrounding referees' decisions. The end result was that Manchester City's title hopes were seriously dented whilst in the process Arsenal made it clear that they mean business this year. This is another big weekend of Premier League action. Let's try and make some money from it...
Manchester United v Tottenham
What was that about a week in politics being a long time? Well a week at Manchester United must be an eternity then after what's happened since I was writing this column last week. Wayne Rooney changed his mind and signed on for another five years, they beat Stoke in the league and Wolves in the Carling Cup and all of a sudden life looks pretty rosy for this great football club.
The win at Stoke City was a little fortuitous in that everyone bar the referee thought Gary Neville should have been sent off but you ride your luck and make the most of it in this game and that's precisely what United did.
Javier Hernandez is the man making all the headlines at the moment but those old stalwarts Nemanja Vidic, Darren Fletcher and Patrice Evra all had good games at Stoke and emphasised the importance of your senior pros leading by example. With Wayne Rooney still unavailable, I expect the little Mexican to get the nod to start this match and there's no reason why his goalscoring run should end here.
Spurs looked a little jaded last weekend against Everton but that was understandable given their exploits in Milan during the week. The recent performances of Rafael van der Vaart have been superb but then again they haven't been that much of a surprise to me given the talent the lad possesses.
I expect to him to once again play 'in the hole' behind either Roman Pavlyuchenko or Peter Crouch and for much of Spurs' attacks to be created by his magical left boot. They'll need a big performance from him if they're to get anything from this match.
Spurs will give it a good go but this isn't a ground where they've had much joy recently and with United carrying the momentum, I'm backing them to edge a close match.
Recommended Bets:
Back Manchester United to win at [1.64]
Back Manchester United to win 1-0 at [9.2]
Back under 2.5 goals at [2.28]
Andy's predictions for Saturday's 3pm kick-offs...
Arsenal v West Ham
This will perhaps be a little tighter than some might think but the points should stay at the Emirates.
Recommended Bets: Back Arsenal at [1.19]; 2-1 at [11.5]
Blackburn v Chelsea
I sense a bit of an upset here with Blackburn's uncompromising and direct approach not allowing Chelsea to settle.
Recommended Bets: Back the draw at [4.6]; 1-1 at [9.6]
Everton v Stoke
Expect another win for Everton and further proof that they've weathered the storm and are back to something like their best.
Recommended Bets: Back Everton at [1.61]; 1-0 at [7.0]
Fulham v Wigan
Fulham are struggling and this is a match they need to win to get back on track. I'll take a punt they'll manage that.
Recommended Bets: Back Fulham to win at [1.95]; 2-1 at [9.6]
Wolves v Man City
That defeat at home to Arsenal was a big body blow to their title aspirations but even without Carlos Tevez, I think Manchester City can get the better of Wolves.
Recommended Bets: Back Manchester City to win at [1.75]; 0-2 at [9.0]
