No go for Man City on the transfer front

Manchester City are [1.05] top-four near certainties after climbing seven points clear of Tottenham - and Liverpool who are now above the Lilywhites on goal difference - courtesy of a 2-1 victory over West Ham, however their new-found status among the elite hasn't affected transfer business yet.

One of their rumoured summer targets Ezequiel Lavezzi isn't be interested in a move to Eastlands right now according to his representative Alejandro Mazzoni because the Argentine forward, who plays on the left of a front three, has his heart set on representing Napoli against Europe's elite.

He said: "Lavezzi want to play in the Champions League with Napoli - his intention is to play against Barcelona and Lionel Messi. I have not received any calls from any club, but if I were to, there would be nothing to negotiate."

But while that might be a blow to Roberto Mancini's plans to strengthen his team ahead of their likely Champions League adventure, there is positive news for Citizens supporters as Inter have denied claims that they have already arranged a deal to take Carlos Tevez off their hands.

Despite withdrawing the transfer request that he submitted in December and pledging his future to the club, it has been suggested that the Manchester City captain will be leaving the Premier League at the end of the season, a view held even by a fair few fans.

Another exciting pre-season is sure to occur, though the current campaign is still far from over as they are a fortnight away from having the opportunity to end their 35-year trophy drought against Stoke at Wembley, with odds of [1.42] offered on them winning the FA Cup.

Can they be denied a dream double of top-four finish and FA Cup? Tell us below...
