Man City set their sights on Dutch legend
Manchester City are interested in bringing veteran AC Milan midfielder Clarence Seedorf to England when his contract with the Rossoneri expires at the end of this season, according to reports in Tuesday's edition of the Daily Mail.
The 35-year-old has been in fine form in recent weeks as the Italian giants close in on their first Serie A title in seven years, and what would incredibly only be the second since joining from Inter in 2002, but has yet to sign an extension to his current deal, prompting speculation that he will move on.
The 87-time Dutch international has won practically every trophy available to him at club level, including domestic titles in Holland, Spain and Italy, the Champions League a staggering four times and the FIFA Club World Cup.
It would appear that such a familiarity with success appeals to Roberto Mancini as he tries to create a winning mentality in the Eastlands dressing room, and Seedorf has already won the affections of the British audience after his impressive punditry performance for the BBC at last year's World Cup.
Even if the Citizens do make an approach for the former Real Madrid man, it is far from certain that he will arrive as in addition to the possibility of staying in Serie A, he has refused to write off the possibility of a switch to Brazil, with his ex team-mate Ronaldo eager for him to head to Corinthians.
Manchester City look likely to be able to offer Seedorf Champions League football though, despite Monday's disappointing 3-0 loss to Liverpool. They are three points clear of Tottenham, who have four of their top-six rivals still to play, and are [1.37] to wrap up a top-four finish.
Would Seedorf be a shrewd capture? Offer your opinion below...
