Man City alerted to Argentine's availability
The future of Manchester City's Argentine superstar Carlos Tevez remains in doubt despite the 27-year-old defying newspaper claims that he would snub the side's FA Cup trophy parade to fly back home, however they have been encouraged to make a bid for one of his international team-mates.
Atletico Madrid forward Sergio Aguero issued a long statement on his official website revealing his intention to leave the club over the summer and expects his wish to be granted having signalled his desire to eventually move on to senior Rojiblancos figures when penning an extension in January.
He said: "I'm about to turn 23 and I have everything before me. Suffice it to say that this is not an economic issue but strictly a sporting one. So I want to clearly express my appreciation to the club for the efforts they have made for giving me a salary that equates with the largest clubs in the world.
"I want to say also that this decision has been maturing for some time. The issue was discussed and agreed with Atletico last year when I was renewing my contract. I wanted to sign as a way to give back to the club for all the support they have given me. Had I not done so, they might not have received any more for my transfer.
"I received then a promise that the club would not stand in my way if I wanted to leave this summer. Therefore, in line with that commitment and my decision, I have asked them to listen to any offers they receive for me from different clubs.''
Real Madrid and Barcelona are the only teams in Spain likely to be viewed as a significant step up for Diego Maradona's son-in-law and it is unclear whether either need him, so there will be talk about a switch to the Premier League or Serie A, with Manchester City ([4.7] to win next year's title), Chelsea and Inter sure to be linked.
