Should Deschamps be Liverpool boss?

Marseille manager Didier Deschamps has told of how he was interviewed for the vacant manager's job at Liverpool, after the departure of Rafa Benitez.

Apparently, the World Cup winner had lengthy discussions with the Liverpool hierarchy before deciding to stay in charge of Marseille where he won them the French title for the first time in 18 years.

He said: "I am very proud that a club of the standing of Liverpool showed interest in me this summer.

"But, to be fair, it wasn't good timing. I had just started pre-season training with Marseille."

Should Liverpool have moved quicker to try and get their man? Would his contacts have allowed him to get better players?

And, more importantly, would he have been a better option than the much maligned Roy Hodgson? Liverpool fans, we want to know what you think on the matter...

he is a good coach but i prefer Hodgson as he understands better the english game and the needs of it.Deschamps might need a bit time to get used to it.liverpool will come good under Roy.

If fans would just give hodgson a chance. Hes actually had a better start than Benitez or Houllier whi both had awful starts with better teams than hodgson has.

Liverpool will be competitive sgain once they get proper investment in.

Reality is the current squad is stale and just not good enough. No manager could do any better than Hodgson is doing at present

All the media initially welcomed the Hodgson appointment, but a less than good start has given them an opportunity to restart their continued attempts at destabilising Liverpool FC.

Would we be in a better position if Deschamps had taken the job? Impossible to say, but odds are that he would not have been able to hit the ground running in the Premier League. Hodgson has the knowledge and experience of the Premier League, the ability to take a team to a decent level with little or no money (as whoever was in charge would have to do at the moment).

I don't see a lot of experience in Deschamps CV, and indeed he has resigned from two of his three manager posts because of disagreements. Do you think their would not be any disagreements at Liverpool at the moment? I'll stick with someone who sticks at a job thank you.

No thanks

once described as a water carrier, this idiot would once again lead us down the path of stop the goals going in rather than scoring goals, never again do we wish to see the likes of Diao, Plessis, Biscan, mascherano or sissoko.

forward thinking please, with more of the likes of Merieles, cole and jovanavic. Oh for Alonso to still be here

if only, but for that idiot we had in charge at the time
