Maxi boosts Liverpool's shock top-four bid
Kenny Dalglish is enjoying a spell in which everything he does turns out perfectly, as evidenced by Maxi Rodriguez's transformation from a player that scored five goals in his first 48 Liverpool appearances to one that has produced two hat-tricks in the space of three matches.
The interim Reds boss appeared to have set a difficult standard to follow in his first few months back in the dugout but instead things have got better and better, with the Merseyside giants on a run of three straight Premier League victories that have been achieved by an aggregate score of 13-2.
The consequence of Liverpool's latest triumph, a 5-2 success away to a Fulham side that boasted the fourth best defensive record in the top-flight, is that they still maintain a slim chance of a top-four finish, an incredible feat given their flirtations with the relegation zone at the start of the season.
The Reds trail [1.04] favourites Manchester City by four points, meaning that if they defeat Tottenham and Aston Villa in their final two fixtures and the Citizens take two points or fewer from collisions with Manchester City, Stoke and Bolton, they will leapfrog Roberto Mancini's team.
Given that the long-term occupants of a Champions League berth are a win away from securing their place though, and could even get it tonight against Spurs, the Reds look to have left their charge too late, however even Europa League qualification would be a fine achievement after such a slow start.
Liverpool now have a two-point advantage over Tottenham and despite the Lilywhites having that game in hand at Eastlands, they control their own destiny because they welcome Harry Redknapp's men to Anfield on Sunday. That's why they are [1.32] to finish ahead of the north Londoners.
Think they can still reach the top four? Odds of [23.0] are available...

liverpool have to win their remaining two games and that too by the margin of 2-0 or 3-0 bcoz if mancity lose tonight and draw their remaining two games then both lfc and mancity would have same no of points so and rit now we r -3 in gd to mancity we conceded two last night so we should go all out and defeat tottenham and aston villa and i have a gut feeling that mancity will lose tonight and will draw their remaining two games jst hoping for lfc to win their games so we should b able to see lfc back in champ league next season

It's not in your heart it's your head. It's called hope and it's often unfounded, especially in this case. It's over!
