Liverpool star denies interest in Man Utd
The feel-good factor is back in existence at Liverpool after a miserable period of 18 months or so and it shows no sign of stopping any time soon, with goalkeeper Pepe Reina the latest to add to the positive atmosphere by claiming that he has no intention of leaving Merseyside.
The Spanish shot-stopper's compatriot Fernando Torres decided that he needed to leave in January to advance his career and made his way to Chelsea and, throughout the season, there have been stories - supported by apparent quotes - that Reina was considering following him out of the door.
However, the Reds' improvement since the interim arrival of Kenny Dalglish in January, widely expected to become a permanent arrangement, appears to have convinced the former Villarreal custodian that his future lies at Anfield, while he has batted away links to Manchester United.
He told Spanish radio station Cadena Cope: "I am not going to Manchester, that is not my intention. I am happy, confident and will continue working so we can win more and more games. I hope that with the new American owners we will have a convincing, ambitious and attractive project.
"Apparently they want to sign important players, and they want the club to continue growing. I hope that we can go back to winning titles, which is what a team like Liverpool needs."
Reina's future isn't the only transfer topic of discussion in the north west right now though, as both the Daily Mail and The Sun are carrying reports that Liverpool are interested in Blackburn defender Phil Jones, who they apparently watched in Rovers' 1-0 loss to Manchester City on Monday night.
The England Under-21 international is apparently valued at £15 million despite his lack of top-level experience, and it is suggested that Manchester United are also tracking his progress.
Will the Reds be in Europe next year? They are [2.62] to finish above Tottenham...
