Liverpool set to endure tense deadline day

Luis Suarez is almost certain to sign for Liverpool on the final day of the January transfer window after passing a medical and agreeing personal terms but Red fans are in for a tense Monday as it is still unclear whether Fernando Torres will get the move away from Anfield that he desires.

Liverpool have confirmed that they are confident that the remaining paperwork for the Suarez deal will be completed ahead of tonight's deadline and so the Uruguayan forward should arrive from Ajax for a fee of £22.8 million.

Will supporters get a chance to see Suarez and Torres link up on Merseyside though? The latest murmur about Torres' future is that he will allowed to leave if Chelsea offer £50 million, although such a leap would appear unlikely given that their initial bid was reportedly a £35 million one.

The Spanish striker has turned up to Melwood for training so all eyes will be on the champions for the rest of the day to see if they try to test Liverpool's resolve by throwing a few more million in their direction.

There is also speculation from the BBC that popular left back Paul Konchesky will temporarily exit the club before the close of play with a loan switch to Nottingham Forest expected. He was linked with a return to Fulham last week, however Mark Hughes has played down those rumours.

In terms of players coming in, there has been no confirmation that Liverpool's interest in Charlie Adam has ended. The Blackpool midfielder's father hit out at the Seasiders over the weekend for standing in the way of his son's opportunity to play for the 18-time champions.

For me if Chelsea offered 50 million I would except it with open arms. With those money I would build a challenging team for the Premairship next year. Torres would be listed as one of the biggest JUDAS in Liverpool history
