Liverpool defender denies talk of Terry rift
Glen Johnson has said that speculation in the media that there will be a rift in the England camp following Fabio Capello's controversial decision to take the captain's armband of off Rio Ferdinand and reinstate former skipper John Terry is wide of the mark.
The Liverpool full back is confident that the squad will remain united despite the decision and has also backed his ex-Chelsea team-mate Terry to justify the Italian tactician's much-criticised move.
He said: "What has gone on has nothing to do with anyone. Terry has been a fantastic captain for Chelsea and England. I am sure he will carry on doing the same job.
"Obviously Rio will be upset to lose the armband. But he is a big man and he will pick himself up and get on with it. I don't think it will be a divisive issue. Everyone is a professional and they will go about their job in the right way. I am sure everyone will be fine."
England's first-choice right back is prepared for the prospect of being the Three Lions' busiest player against Wales at the Millennium Stadium on Saturday as it will be his job to keep Gareth Bale quiet, however he is confident of success and expects England to go all out for victory in the derby match.
He added: "Bale is the main danger. He is a fantastic player who has been doing really well this season. But we have good players too. We have to concentrate on ourselves because we want those three points."
Capello's side are [1.48] to build on the momentum gained through last month's friendly triumph in Denmark with another win, while Wales are considered [8.6] outsiders, with the draw [4.6].
