Liverpool consider controversial additions
Kenny Dalglish is idolised so much by Liverpool fans, and deservedly so having led them from 12th to sixth already in his second stint in charge, that he has more leeway than most bosses when it comes to making potentially unpopular signings, and it is rumoured that one or two are on the horizon.
The Daily Mail report that Dalglish is tempted to bring Joey Barton back to Merseyside, and while such a move will attract huge controversy because of the criticism the one-time England midfielder receives for past off-the-field indiscretions, it does make perfect sense from a football perspective.
The Newcastle man was largely responsible for the fantastic form of Liverpool's £35 million man Andy Carroll at the start of this season and if his valuation of £5 million is accurate then purchasing him makes far more sense than bidding far more for Charlie Adam after just one top-flight campaign.
The Mail claim that the Reds' interim manager, who is widely expected to be appointed on a permanent basis over the next few weeks, is determined to add more British players to his squad and is also looking at Phil Jones, Ashley Young, Stewart Downing and Connor Wickham.
Another murmur doing the rounds is that Dalglish is pondering whether it is worth giving Michael Owen a second chance at Anfield once his Manchester United contract expires this summer, despite his stock among fans plummeting after his Old Trafford switch.
Few other clubs of their standing are likely to put in an offer for the clinical striker, so he would surely be interested, and Dalglish is believed to view it as a serious prospect if a pay-as-you-play arrangement can be agreed.
Where will Liverpool finish this year? They are [2.66] to outperform Tottenham...

Well tbh I don't think either player can offer much... Another player will connect with carroll as he is young and still learning.. As for owen and pay as you play? Maybe considering owen and gerrard parnership, however the choice I would make is bring ashley young it at no cost. I think he would be a great addition to the club and also bring pacheco into the fold. We have good english player coming through but the potential of pacheco is greater than what owen can offer now. But we do need 2/3 high profile player with a good age
