Liverpool already plotting four signings

Only four games into the new season, Roy Hodgson has felt obliged to assure Liverpool fans that everything will be fine and that he is not concerned about the form of striker Fernando Torres. But depending which newspapers and websites you read this morning, the Reds are already being linked with four players ahead of the January transfer window.

The first name is no real surprise - Carlton Cole was believed to be heading to Anfield in August but the move didn't happen. However, reports suggest that Hodgson will go back to West Ham in order to try and sign Cole in the New Year.

The former Fulham boss may attempt to snap up midfielder Valon Behrami at the same time, although the Swiss midfielder appears to have his heart set on a return to Italy for family reasons.

At the same time, the Anfield club are said to be very keen on 17-year-old Spanish midfielder Inigo Ruiz de Galarreta, who only debuted for Athletic Bilbao in pre-season. However Liverpool are likely to face stiff competition as the youngster is being watched by a number of clubs across Europe.

And they may also face a battle for their fourth potential signing, French international striker Karim Benzema. The Real Madrid player is also attracting the attention of Juventus, and reports suggest that if the forward was to become available then Manchester United may also throw their hat in the ring.

Will Liverpool make it into the top four? They are currently priced at [3.2]...

Carton Cole? Please God never
let this become a reality.
Pacheko is by far a better striker
then Cole will ever be.As for Benzema
I don't think Roy is really interested
in him, just pure paper talk.we certainly
do need more drive and creativity in
our team and certainly the two mentioned
above don't fit the bill.We need another
Alonso who can pick a player across the
field and another striker like or who can
compliment Torres.

We just seriously need “NEW OWNERS !”. hopefully by the next transfer window, Liverpool will already be in the hands of a new owner. Preferably someone who is capable of competing with Chelsea and Man United fundamentally and would bring the club back to it’s normal state. All this by right should happen BEFORE THE NEXT TRANSFER WINDOW RE-OPENS.

Therefore, by the next transfer window Roy should have at least 55M to spend on bringing in :

David de Gea for 3M – Young and could be Reina’s understudy like Jones. Then, we can be rid of Itandje. Looking at his performances, I can see him as the next Pepe.

Javi Martinez for 18M – Young, has a great eye, really fast, good in the air(excellent for set-pieces), could be the next Xabi Alonso(a void that couldn’t be filled since Xabi left) and at 21 he is a heck load better than Lucas.

Juan Mata for 14M - He’d be the solution to the lack of depth on the left-wing(something that has been missing for quite sometime now). He has the pace, the ability and a great mind . He is one talented young man. Plus he will cope well with Torres. It’d be fantastic to see
him in play for Liverpool.

Patrick Helmes for 20M – Forget Carlton Cole, N’gog is almost as good as him. If we want a quality striker, I would say Helmes is what we’re looking for. Torres and Helmes would be unstoppable. No defence can destruct the partnership of this two huge talents(considering he can adapt to the PL and that they can work together).

After bringing in all the players above, we can then concentrate on offloading :

- Charles Itandje for 0.5M

- Sotirios Kyrgiakos for 2M

- Lucas Leiva for 8-10M

~ That’d be the end of our business in the January transfer window ~

*SEASON 2011-12*

To challenge for the Champions League and the Barclays Premier League, we have to sign either Fabio Coentrao / Marcelo from Real / Royston Drenthe(Preferably Fabio Coentrao).
Therefore, we can get :

Fabio Coentrao for 5M + Emiliano Insua - He is a superb left-back, full of pace and is capable of running pass defenders. He’s the kind of player we need at left-back. Plus for a left-back he scores more than he’s expected to. Only 22 and he plays almost as well as Patrice Evra from Manchester. A talented player he is. We can get Meireles to persuade him to sign for Liverpool.

OR

Marcelo for 8M + Emiliano Insua - He’s the kind of player we need at left-back. Although we already have Konchesky at left-back he isn’t as good as this young lad. (not so easy to get as Ramon Calderon once stated that "He is an important signing for us. He is a young player who will inject some freshness into the side and is part of our plan to bring younger players into the squad. We're very happy because he's a pearl that half of Europe wanted.")

OR

Insua for Drenthe in a straight swap.

Players who are surplus to requirements :
Aquilani – 18-20M is what I see coming this way after what should be a successful season with the Serie A
side Juventus.

Degen – I would say a sale that would profit us to about 4M.

Aurelio - I’m sure he’d like to enjoy his last years of playing football so, let him go for no less than 3M.

ElZhar – 0.5M is the most Liverpool can get from this player.

With Pepe in goal and both Skrtel and Agger leading the back row, leaving the right side to the English duo of Johnson and Cole and leaving Coentrao and Juan Mata to dominate the left flank. In addition, the partnership of Gerrard and Mereles in midfield would make Liverpool a very threatening side. With Torres and Helmes up front, Liverpool might just be on their way to a twentieth Prem League victory since 1990.

As for the subs, we have Jones / De Gea, Carragher(34), Konchesky / Kelly, Javi Martinez, Maxi, Babel, Kuyt,.

I think keep on buying players will no going to make Liverpool looks good. Even we manage to buy a quality one. Solve the ownership's problem first. This is sound annoying to all the Liverpool fan.

haha champs manager thats right to all the people who get all these funny ideas and wholesale changes...me i would just like to see the new signings coming good...players like Meireles,Poulsen,Konc,Cole and even Jova can be a hit or miss so it be great if they all make it and then Liverpool will be very strong and we will all have something to rave about this season...

Marshy (September 13, 2010 4:43 PM) said:

New owners won't keep grandad Roy, they'll want somebody who thinks Poulsen and Konchesky are rubbish, and that not expecting to win at Birmingham indicates a loser. Roy has no idea what he's doing, just look at his substitutions and pitchside antics - constantly checking his watch and scratching his head. Roy is amid table manager and it shows.

Betfair Football (September 13, 2010 5:25 PM) said:

We love contentious opinions Marshy, but isn't it a bit harsh to write Hodgson off after four games? He has picked up as many points as Liverpool did in the equivalent fixtures in 2009-10, despite making the club a profit in the transfer window.

Admittedly, we thought he got it wrong with the way he set up away at Manchester City but don't most Liverpool fans believe in giving managers time?
