Klopp to Liverpool, Coppell back to Palace!

The winter transfer window has not been open for long but despite the fresh opportunity to link players with a change of scenery, there's been almost as much speculation about managers moving in today's newspapers.

The big rumour is that Liverpool have set their sights on hugely promising German boss Jurgen Klopp, whose reputation has risen considerably after his current side Borussia Dortmund's brilliant start to the season. They've lost just twice and lead the Bundesliga by a whopping ten points.

That incredible form is already believed to have attracted the attention of Bayern Munich and the DFB, who view the 43-year-old as a potential successor to Louis van Gaal or Joachim Low, with the latter even going as far as to talk up the ability of his fellow trainer to lead the national team.

Liverpool's 2-1 victory over Bolton on New Year's Day did little to alter the impression that Roy Hodgson, who is very unpopular among the Reds fanbase, is on borrowed time, however reports of snaring Klopp from Westfalenstadion has been dismissed by both the former Mainz man and his employers.

The Guardian's Bundesliga correspondent Raphael Honigstein quotes Klopp as saying "there has been no approach and there's no point talking about it" while the [1.32] title favourites' chief executive Hans-Joachim Watzke said: " Everybody knows there's no chance we'd let him go. We can but laugh. Jurgen is a friend of mine and he has a contract until 2014. He would never break it."

The day's other intriguing managerial gossip is that Steve Coppell will be sounded out by Crystal Palace chairman Steve Parish about taking charge at Selhurst Park for the fifth time.

Parish has stated his desire to meet with Coppell, who retired from football upon leaving Bristol City in August claiming to be lacking passion, primarily to discuss candidates for the job following George Burley's exit yet suggested that if the Palace legend is interested, he could return to the club.

Are Klopp and Liverpool an ideal fit? Is Coppell the man to keep Palace in the Championship? Share your thoughts in the box below...
