Big odds on Betfair as Liverpool lose again
The battle of veteran and rookie Scottish tacticians at Villa Park on the final day of an unpredictable Premier League season produced another fairly surprising result as temporary Aston Villa boss Gary McAllister built on his victory at Arsenal last week with a 1-0 triumph over Liverpool.
Stewart Downing's first-half goal ensured that Aston Villa completed a spectacular late dash from 13th to ninth in the table and also meant that Kenny Dalglish now holds the unwanted record of having lost both of his matches since being confirmed as permanent Reds boss for the second time.
It wasn't just Villa fans that were delighted by their sudden arrival into the top half though as any Betfair punters that had £10 on them signing off with a 1-0 win enjoyed a £123.50 profit, whereas Ladbrokes and Blue Square users gained just £70 for the exact same flutter.
There was also more money to be made betting against other people on Betfair on the dramatic events at the bottom of the table. Those that stuck £10 on Wigan completing an impressive escape with a 1-0 success at Stoke won back £114, a substantial improvement on the £60 offered by Blue Square.
One of the most unexpected scorelines of the day was Blackburn's 3-2 win at Wolves which ultimately kept both clubs up, and the few shrewd backers that saw that one coming claimed £446.50 back for a £10 stake on Betfair, compared to only £270 with BetClic.
Elsewhere, Chelsea's curse against Everton continued as they were beaten 1-0 by the Toffees at Goodison Park. Anyone that wagered £10 on that result received a £104.50 payout, while Ladbrokes and Blue Square customers were forced to settle for just £70.
Don't take our word for it though, why not test Betfair yourself using Betchecker?
