Back Liverpool - get a refund if they slip up

The Liverpool revival ground to a halt before the international intervention, a disappointing draw at Wigan being followed by a loss away to Stoke, and the break did little to help their predicament, as Steven Gerrard injured his hamstring playing for England and is expected to be out for four weeks.

Their recent home form is still encouraging though, with their three matches at Anfield since the arrival of new owner John Henry ending in victories over Blackburn, Napoli and Chelsea, and they couldn't have begged for a better opponent than West Ham to bounce back against.

It's not the fact that West Ham are bottom of the league having won once all season. It's not even their dismal run of 24 Premier League away games without success that makes a Liverpool triumph appear a near certainty. Instead, it's their woeful record at Anfield that renders Roy Hodgson's Reds irresistible at [1.6].

Thanks to our special offer for those opening new Betfair accounts, you can bet up to £30 on this match or anything else that catches your eye within seven days of signing up and any losing wagers will be refunded, so there's no absolutely no risk involved.

This is the one fixture that almost every West Ham fan instantly writes off and it's easy to see why. The Irons haven't beaten the 18-time champions on Merseyside since 1963, collecting just a point over the course of their last nine visits and netting only twice, with one of those goals a penalty.

Any arguments about Liverpool's lack of momentum and the absence of Gerrard can be countered by a look at their last meeting in April, when a struggling Liverpool team romped to a 3-0 win over the east Londoners despite Fernando Torres missing out through injury. It all suggests that the home clean sheet is also worth backing at [2.2].
