They've already been linked with Ashley Young and Stewart Downing as they attempt to identify the wide threats capable of getting the best out of £35 million man Andy Carroll, and now Liverpool have been named as one of six clubs preparing a bid for Wigan winger Charles N'Zogbia.

The Frenchman has scored nine and set up seven in the Premier League this season to spearhead the Latics' bid for survival - which is [1.88] to prove unsuccessful - and as a result the Daily Mirror claim there are half a dozen historically bigger teams hoping to take him away from the DW Stadium.

The 24-year-old has admitted in the past that he views Roberto Martinez's side as a stepping stone in his career and were he to guide them to safety with victory at Stoke on Sunday ([2.48]), he would surely leave with the blessing of most supporters, while relegation would potentially force his sale.

The Mirror report that in addition to Liverpool, Tottenham, former club Newcastle, Sunderland, Aston Villa and Italian giants Juventus are all interested in the one-time France international, who it is thought would cost a figure in the region of £7 million.

His eventual destination could depend on other summer transfers, as if the Reds are able to tempt Aston Villa to part company with one of Young or Downing, they would potentially drop out of the race for N'Zogbia and Villa's involvement may become more prominent.

Kenny Dalglish is believed to have a reasonable amount to spend in pre-season in an effort to continue the improvement that he has initiated in his interim spell in charge, as fans will be hoping that near the end of his new three-year deal, they will be in a position to challenge for major honours.

Think Liverpool win the title as soon as 2011-12? They are [12.0] on Betfair...
