And that was another week in football...

Liverpool Photo

There are a lot of interesting things written on Twitter. You can find out what Stephen Fry had for lunch, or even what colour Ashton Kutcher's socks are. But, if you're really lucky, you might just get a Premier League footballer putting his foot in it...

Twit of the week 1

"Why did blackpool came all the way to the bridge for nothing......... That's why were the champions hahaha" When you're not selected for the Chelsea team, it's best not to start Tweeting about how poor you think the opposition are, Patrick van Aanholt .

Unconvincing explanation of the week
"My appolgise (sic) ... My friend took my phone and start messing around.... I was just watching the game ..." - Van Aanholt blames a prankster friend for the Tweets. Does anyone believe him?

Consoler of the week
"When you come to the end of your career it's something you'll be remembered for. What's in his head? I haven't got a clue." - Cardiff boss Dave Jones fails to make 18-year-old defender Adam Matthews feel any better about his spectacular own goal against Ipswich last weekend.

Twit of the week 2
"No excuses for last nite, we weren't good enough. And I failed personally. Haven't lost faith, so I keep working." - Ryan Babel apologises to Liverpool fans via Twitter after their Carling Cup exit to Northampton. At least least one person still has faith in him.

Employee of the week
"Somebody said to me are 'you more suited to a club like Blackburn and Bolton' and I took that as a bit of an insult." - Sam Allardyce delights his employers yet again.

Lewis Hamilton of the week
"The biggest problem in England is driving on the left side - but I haven't hit anyone yet." Rafael van der Vaart's Dutch driving test obviously wasn't the strictest.
