Tottenham boss hushes Chelsea rumours

Harry Redknapp has played down reports that he could replace Carlo Ancelotti as Chelsea manager at the end of the season, claiming to have had no contact with Roman Abramovich or indeed anybody in a position of power at Stamford Bridge.

In an exclusive interview with Daily Mirror journalist Martin Lewis, the Tottenham boss spoke of his happiness working at White Hart Lane, though as Portsmouth supporters will be swift to warn them, that's no guarantee of a lengthy spell in charge.

He said: "I don't take a lot of notice (of the rumours). I just get on with it. It's speculation. I've never spoken to anyone from Chelsea. No-one's come to me and said that Chelsea are interested in me or anything else. I've got a job to do here. I love it here. I'm happy here."

It is widely believed that Ancelotti will be axed this summer, as was the fate of the previous two tacticians to finish a campaign trophyless since Abramovich's 2003 takeover - Claudio Ranieri and Avram Grant - despite guiding the Blues to their first ever domestic double in his debut season.

Redknapp is just one of the many names linked with any potential vacancy, with Turkey coach and former interim Chelsea chief Guus Hiddink considered by many to be the preferred choice and everybody from Jose Mourinho to Mark Hughes to Andre Villas Boas to Rafael Benitez mentioned.

Ancelotti has an opportunity to try to prove to Abramovich that he should be allowed to see out his contract by guiding the champions into the top two, a [1.95] prospect. Four of their final six games are at home, one against Redknapp's Spurs, while they visit Everton and Manchester United.

Carlo is a decent honourable man but lacks the guile that a lot of premier managers possess. He still does not knowhow to get the best out of Torres.Surely he should have given Torres a longer run in the match against West Brom.He should be replaced with Mourinho or Rednapp.
