Chelsea & Man City linked with midfielder
After a decade at [2.28] Serie A favourites AC Milan, there are rumours that Andrea Pirlo will finally move on in the summer and it has been suggested in various media sources that several clubs are hoping to convince him to give the Premier League a shot.
Juventus are considered to be the favourites for the midfielder's signature if he fails to agree a contract extension at the San Siro, however his former boss Carlo Ancelotti is reportedly keen on a reunion at Chelsea and another compatriot, Roberto Mancini, would like him at Manchester City.
The 31-year-old is one of the most highly-rated deep-lying playmakers in the world, although as there are often question marks raised regarding the perceived slower pace of Italian football, many doubt whether Pirlo would enjoy the same success in England that he has enjoyed in Serie A.
Of course, Pirlo's admirers will naturally point to his Champions League and World Cup winners' medals as proof that his undeniable class shines through in any environment though.
It is claimed that there has already been a dialogue between AC Milan and Juventus about the Italy star, who has been sidelined for much of a great campaign for the Rossoneri, with Juventus sporting director Giuseppe Marotta believed to have approached opposite number Adriano Galliani.
Despite concerns being aired over how much Juventus have to spend, they are expected to be active in the market as they once again fight to regain their Champions League place. Most Milan fans are confident that president Silvio Berlusconi will step in to stop the long-serving creator from leaving.
