Marseille were the second favourites behind Chelsea to win Champions League Group C at the start of the competition but the suspicion remains that the Blues would have been better off facing the French champions on the opening matchday rather than tonight.

The 1992-93 winners, who are managed by former Chelsea midfielder Didier Deschamps, lost their first group encounter 1-0 at home to Spartak Moscow, a result that wasn't the huge shock it perhaps should have been because they kicked off their Ligue 1 title defence so dreadfully.

Gradually they've improved though and head to Stamford Bridge chasing a third successive victory in all competitions, whereas the hosts are looking to avoid a third straight defeat after losses to Newcastle and Manchester City.

Carlo Ancelotti's side are firm [1.4] favourites to triumph however, even without suspended former l'OM striker Didier Drogba, and that price is justified by the fact Marseille have lost six of their last eight away group games, while Chelsea have won five of their last six in west London.

Thanks to our special offer for those opening new Betfair accounts, you can stake up to £30 on this match or on absolutely anything that catches your eye within seven days of signing up and any losing wagers will be refunded.

Want to have a risk-free punt on something with longer odds? How about over 3.5 goals at [2.8]? Marseille have scored eight times in their last four away ties despite winning only one of those and - as you're no doubt aware by now - Chelsea's 17 home games in 2010 have averaged 4.76 goals.
