Andy's Tuesday tips - Vital win for Chelsea

FC Copenhagen lead the Danish league by a whopping margin and they are unbeaten after 19 games but, whether or not that is a good thing for them when they meet Chelsea on Tuesday night is an interesting question. They could come into the match full of confidence or they could be ill-equipped for the step up and suffer the consequences of not being tested week in, week out.

Despite their problems in the Premier League this season - and I do not believe that they can make up the 12-point deficit on Manchester United now - Chelsea remain a solid proposition in the Champions League. Betfair punters certainly agree with me and that's why they're considered more likely at [7.4] to win the Champions League than Manchester United at [9.4].

The Danish side have recorded some decent results at home this season - not least when they held Barcelona to a 1-1 draw in the group stage. But I believe that Carlo Ancelotti has the squad to progress in Europe and his players may well feel liberated by playing outside of the Premier League.

They've had such an up and down few months it might come as a relief to get back to the Champions League where, it has to be said, their form has been pretty strong.

One of the reasons Fernando Torres joined Chelsea was so that he could play in this competition and he will surely relish the big game and continental atmosphere in the Danish capital.

Nicolas Anelka has five Champions League goals this season but he may not be selected so I'm backing Torres to score in a 1-0 Chelsea win. That would be a solid advantage to take back to Stamford Bridge and bring Roman Abramovich one step closer to his dream of winning Europe's biggest prize.

Recommended Bets:
Back Chelsea to win at [1.84]
Back Chelsea to win 1-0 at [7.2]
Back Fernando Torres to score at [2.8]

It is not often I agree with you Andy but on this occasion I agree. Chelsea are still not right and I think it will take Fernando a little longer to fit into this disorganised team. Couple this with the fact that Copenhagen are unbeaten at home this season and Chelsea will be very happy to escape with a draw, which is what I think is what they will get. I predict a 0-0. Fernando could once again hear the drums of substitution.

And if he/Chelsea fails??? Will he agitate for a move to the next 'top' club? What a football club, what naivety, what utter self-centredness!!
