Dons will be swept aside by Birmingham

After their respective defeats against West Bromwich Albion and Newcastle United at the weekend, Birmingham and Everton will both be out for revenge in their games tonight. MK Dons and Brentford had better watch out - and so should Owen Coyle!

Birmingham City v MK Dons

Alex McLeish has stated he doesn't think his side will be able to better last season's ninth place finish, so the Carling Cup looks like his side's best chance of glory this term. Their 3-1 defeat against West Brom at the weekend was an incredibly limp performance and McLeish will demand better of his players in this clash. Summer signings Matt Derbyshire and Nikola Zigic look set to start for the Blues, while Dons leading scorer Sam Baldock is struggling with an injury. Backing Birmingham to be winning at half-time and full-time at [2.32] could be well worth a punt.

Brentford v Everton
Everton's only victory this season has come in the Carling Cup, and they look good to double their total tonight. David Moyes has said he will leave "no stone unturned" in his quest to sort out the Toffees erratic form, and Brentford could struggle against an Everton side who dispatched Huddersfield 5-1 in the last round. However, Everton have lost against Shrewsbury and Oldham in the Carling Cup in recent seasons, so they won't be taking the Bees lightly. Brentford have only scored two goals in their last four games, and none in their previous two, so back Everton to win to nil at [2.22].

Burnley v Bolton Wanderers
Apparently, when this fixture was announced, new Burnley boss Brian Laws texted old Burnley boss Owen Coyle with one word - 'ouch.' That sums up this clash pretty well, as Coyle and his players can expect a hostile reception from the club he walked out on nine months ago. With the incentive of showing up their old manager, and Coyle saying he will start with several fringe players, Burnley look a good bet at [1.86] to qualify and cause a mini-upset.

Peterborough United v Swansea City
This is the clash we singled out for special attention in our Bet of the Day. The Swans' away record has been dreadful this season, losing to Norwich, Leeds and Hull on the road already. But those teams are in a different league (literally and figuratively) to Peterborough and, having already dispatched Barnet and Tranmere Rovers in the League Cup, we reckon the Swans will come out on top at [2.7].

Reckon we're right? Or could Everton's season get worse? Let us know what you think below...
