Birmingham on the brink after intense day

Survival Sunday will involve five clubs fighting to avoid one of the two remaining relegation spots and judging by the drama and excitement of the penultimate weekend, it promises to be one of the tensest, most captivating and mathematically-challenging days in recent Premier League history.

Despite breathtaking come-from behind weekend wins, Blackpool ([1.44] to go down) and Wigan ([1.82]) head into the final matchday in the bottom three and forced to travel to Manchester United and Stoke knowing that victory may be required to stay up, and even that may not be enough.

The three teams just outside the drop zone remain in grave danger, with Blackburn ([13.5]) and Wolves ([8.2]) - opponents next week - two points clear and Birmingham ([1.78]) - who seemed safe not long ago - suddenly looking in big trouble ahead of a trip to apparently rejuvenated Tottenham.

The Carling Cup winners are easily the most out of sorts of the strugglers having taken one point from their last five games, and that at home to Wolves, and with Manchester United expected to field reserves against Blackpool, it means they have arguably the toughest task at White Hart Lane.

A win at home to Fulham would have effectively secured Alex McLeish's side a third straight season in the top-flight but somehow they contrived to lose to two Brede Hangeland goals and assume a position from which a triumph away to a club last beaten at home domestically in August may be needed.

Who will follow West Ham into the Championship? Have your say below...

Blues cannot rely on getting a result at Spurs. We have to rely on Man U & Stoke to do the business for us unfortunately.
Either way stay up or go down big changes are needed!
