Aston Villa's patience is a virtue on Betfair
It took until late January but Aston Villa have finally recorded successive Premier League victories for the first time all season and even more surprisingly they didn't need a goal from new signing Darren Bent to set them on their way.
Villa waited until after half-time at the DW Stadium to score the goals that moved them six points clear of the relegation zone, all the while pushing their hosts Wigan deeper into the mire, and Betfair customers who had the half-time draw/full-time away win backed were handsomely rewarded.
A £20 wager on that sequence returned a massive £106.40 profit on Betfair - even accounting for the maximum five per cent commission - whereas the same punt only paid out £80 with Ladbrokes.
There were plenty of examples of why you are better off betting against other people on Betfair in the Football League on Tuesday night, with perhaps the standout example coming at Priestfield as League Two leaders Chesterfield halted the momentum of improving Gillingham with a 2-0 triumph.
If you had staked £10 on the visitors winning by that margin on Betfair, you'd be £199.50 richer right now, a huge improvement on the £100 that was delivered by Ladbrokes on the same outcome.
There was also a big opportunity to make money in League One as promotion hopefuls Sheffield Wednesday were held at home by relegation-threatened Yeovil. A £10 outlay on the 2-2 draw was worth £199.50 on Betfair, compared to just £110 with BetClic.
Don't take our word for it though, why not test Betfair yourself using Betchecker?
