Andy's Wednesday tips - Back Aston Villa
Betfair Football's star pundit Andy Gray expects both of Wednesday's Carling Cup quarter-final matches to be fairly tight. Here's what he recommends backing...
Birmingham v Aston Villa
A second city derby is always a big deal no matter what competition it's in and I expect both teams to go all out to get the result at St Andrew's.
Of the two, Aston Villa are the stronger. Gerard Houllier hasn't made a bad start and he is steadily putting his own stamp on the team.
Despite the attacking flourishes we've seen from Villa in recent weeks, I expect a tight game and am going to back my old team to win and reach the semi-finals as they did last year.
Recommended Bets:
Back Aston Villa to win at [3.2]
Back Aston Villa to win 1-0 at [10.5]
Ipswich v West Brom
Roberto Di Matteo was talking about bringing European football to The Hawthorns a few weeks ago but, on recent Premier League form, this competition might be his best hope.
I like what the Italian has done with West Brom; they are a far more robust team than in previous seasons but they still play with panache. Their priority is to remain in the top flight this season and I expect they will field a weakened team for this tie.
It could be a long night though. Ipswich sit 17th in the Championship so they are hardly setting the division alight this season. However, any team managed by Roy Keane will be determined to make a big impression and I can see the home side taking this all the way to penalties.
Recommended Bets:
Back the draw at [3.7]
Back the 0-0 draw at [13.5]

i think andys right it will be a tight and scrappy derby brum are very good at defending at home as they proved against chelsea recently winning 1 0 but their record against villa is bad and they dont score enough goals to win a game like this im backing villa 2 1 and 1 0 scoreline and under 3 goals.
