The in-play guide to Blackpool vs Arsenal
There's reason to believe that there will be goals in each of this weekend's televised Premier League games but the one that is most ripe for entertainment is the Sunday afternoon clash between Blackpool and Arsenal. We've looked at three trends to help you bet in-play on the fixture...
Comebacks are unlikely...
Much has been made in recent weeks of Arsenal's perceived lack of battle after their quadruple bid collapsed in spectacularly swift fashion, however there isn't much wrong with their ability to hold a lead, as they have won 15 of the 18 Premier League games in which they have scored the first goal. Blackpool are no comeback kings either, falling to defeat in 14 of the 17 matches where the opener went against them. Arsenal have managed a similarly unremarkable two wins in nine after going behind, so piling in on the deadlock breakers should prove a sound policy.
...but expect a lively second-half
The outcome of this encounter may be decided early on but there is very little chance of it petering out, given that both teams have scored nine goals in the last ten minutes of league games, especially as Blackpool have conceded a quite incredible 36 second-half goals this season, while Arsenal are far from impenetrable with 19 leaked compared to ten before the interval. That suggests that a bit of half-time fun on the over/unders markets can be have, such as backing over 2.5 even if the match is still goalless or over 4.5 if two have been scored.
And there won't be a clean sheet in sight
Both teams to score is currently priced at [1.73] for Sunday's collision for the simple reason that none of the 14 sides to have visited Bloomfield Road so far this season have failed to score and the Seasiders have also never been shut out in front of their fans in the Premier League. There have been a number of near misses in that time, such as Tottenham waiting until the 93rd minute to grab a consolation in their 3-1 loss in February, yet every club has netted, so there's a huge opportunity to make money if one team is leading to nil in the closing stages.
