Lessons learnt from the weekend's football
For once it was golf rather than football that grabbed all the headlines this weekend, but there were still some brilliant games and plenty of things to take away from the action this weekend...
The Dutch have learnt a lesson of their own
Before the World Cup final, the things that defined Dutch football were fantastic football and brilliant goals. That reputation took a hammering after their heavy handed tactics against Spain after swapping total football for plain brutality.
Now coach Bert van Marwijk has decided it's time to draw a line under the less distinguished side of the Dutch game by dropping Nigel de Jong. His tackle on Hatem Ben Arfa at the weekend resulted in a double leg break for the French international and Van Marwijk was far from happy with the 25-year-old.
He said: "It was a wild and unnecessary offence. I have a problem with the way Nigel needlessly looks to push the limit."
Will Holland beat Moldova? Of course they will! But a 3-0 win is a tempting [2.2]...
Arsenal still aren't title contenders
Apparently, the sign of a good team is when they can play poorly and still win. Unfortunately for Arsenal, the exact opposite seems to apply to them. They once again outplayed Chelsea but were unable to break down a stubborn Blues defence, and showed once again why they still have some work to do to catch up with their London neighbours.
Can Arsenal finish in the top two? They're [3.15] to push for the title...
Leicester City are not messing about
If the appointment of Paulo Sousa in the summer showed that Leicester City were an ambitious club, his sacking after just nine league games showed that chairman Milan Mandarić is also ruthless. Sven had better get going very quickly...
Could Leicester get promoted this year? They are [13.5] to make it to the Premier League...
