Arsenal striker plots summer move abroad

Nicklas Bendtner is destined to end his six-year association with Arsenal this summer but prefers the idea of moving abroad for European football to the prospect of staying in the Premier League with ambitious Blackburn, according to stories in the Daily Mail and London Standard.

The Danish striker, whose desire to prove himself to be one of the best attacking talents in the world is often ridiculed, has started only two league matches for the Gunners in 2011 despite grumbling in the press prior to that about his lack of first-team action, leading many to suspect a split is imminent.

The Daily Mail suggest this morning that the 23-year-old has attracted plenty of interest in Germany, with the Bundesliga's soon-to-be champions Borussia Dortmund and Hamburg both keen to bring in a forward that has scored a respectable 43 goals in 79 starts for Arsene Wenger's north Londoners.

The Evening Standard also report the German duo's alleged enquiries yet claim that Bendtner would rather join a Serie A club because he supposedly "believes the Italian top flight provides the best test of a player's ability", a viewpoint perhaps motivated by his desire to eclipse Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

It is rumoured that Juventus and Lazio are Bendtner's Italian suitors, though the seemingly never-ending decline of the Old Lady leaves them far from certain of reaching any European competition next season, while it is yet to be decided whether Lazio will be in the Europa or Champions League.

If Lazio hold off the challenge of Udinese and Roma, that would potentially put them in pole position to sign the 36-time Denmark front man, but the Biancocelesti are [2.6] to finish in Serie A's top four, so Dortmund may be the only one of the quartet in a position to offer him a seat at Europe's top table.

Would Arsenal miss Bendtner if they let him go? Let us know below...

Arsenal will miss him. He has a promising future, age is still on his side. I believe this is the right time to prove his worth nd if he is not given the chance he shoul leave.
